Facebook, How To Create A Facebook Event:

Tech Tips With Dr. Z

There are times, especially with online marketers, where we want to make an announcement of an upcoming event, frequently it will be a webinar, or maybe an invitation to a meeting of some sort or another.

There are two options with Facebook in making an announcement of this upcoming event.

1.One can place an announcement directly on your Facebook wall as an Update

Or

2. One can create what is called a Facebook Event

If one chooses to place an announcement of an upcoming event on their wall as an update, it will be seen by those viewing their Facebook wall updates at that exact moment of your posting, and probably that is a small fraction of one’s actual friend list. Unfortunately the announcement will be soon buried by the continuous influx of constant wall postings, making your important announcement essentially worthless.

However, Facebook has a specific area to make these important announcement much more effective. That is appropriately called an Event and the option is found on the left margin of the Facebook home page. Once the Facebook event is created there is the option to invite friends to the event, however until now it was not possible to invite your entire lest to an event without simply clicking individually  on every person you want to invite. Fortunately there is now a free app that makes the invitation to all your friends automatic. When you create your event and then activate the new app to invite all of your friends your event invitation will be sent directly into each friend’s Message box, and will thereby will have a much better chance of being read, especially if the recipient is active on Facebook.

How to automate inviting your list of Friends to a Facebook Event

As a longtime member of Facebook I have been using events to announce the frequent webinars provided by the marketing companies with which I participate. Initially Facebook included an option that allowed one to invite everyone on the friends list, but with Facebook’s growth and frequent changes that option was lost and became impossible to perform other than by individually clicking on each friend in your list. I have close to 3000 friends and it became essentially impossible to use events for promotion. However, recently an app was developed that once again makes inviting ALL of your friend list possible and quite simple. This is especially useful for anyone involved in marketing of one type or another where the company does online conference meeting, such as with Gotomeeting.com, and you want to promote your business by inviting your friends to attend the webinar.

I am providing a video that will walk you through the process of how to create and event and to successfully invite all of those member of your friends list to attend your upcoming event. I hope it helps you in your marketing needs, if so please leave a comment and re-tweet. I would appreciate it. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to write to me at the email listed below.

The steps outlined in the video are as follows:

Step 1- Create event in facebook

Here is a sample one I created:

Step 2- Invite All Friends to event!

Install this extension in google chrome:

When you click “invite friends” be sure to scroll down so all your friends show,  then click the little FB button in chrome to select them all.  If you have a bunch of friends it can take some time to process!

I clicked the link to chrome webstore above but it directed me to the main page, could you give me the name of the extension so I can search it manually?
    Thanks.

Amy, I just tried the link again and it opened into the proper location that reads: Facebook Add All Friends, with the download link (large green bar) is on the upper right. The link needs to be opened within the Chrome browser in order to work properly. I attempted to find the actual extension link but it doesn’t seem to be available. Let me know if you still are having issues, maybe I can find a fix.
